Bariatric Revision Surgery in Guadalajara, Mexico
A second chance at lasting weight loss. We specialize in bariatric revision surgery for patients who had a previous procedure (sleeve, band, or bypass) and need correction, conversion, or complication repair.
Dr. Alejandro López has performed thousands of revision procedures. We accept patients operated on elsewhere — including in the United States, Mexico, or anywhere — and provide expert evaluation and treatment.

What is bariatric revision surgery?
A revision is a second bariatric surgery designed to:
- ✓ Modify or convert a previous bariatric procedure
- ✓ Restore weight loss when the original surgery is no longer working
- ✓ Resolve complications from a prior surgery (leaks, strictures, reflux, hernias)
- ✓ Improve metabolic outcomes when diabetes or comorbidities persist
Revision surgery is technically more complex than primary bariatric surgery — adhesions from prior surgery, altered anatomy, and risk of leaks make it a procedure that requires high-volume revision experience. This is our specialty.
When do you need a revision?
📈 Weight regain after sleeve or bypass
You lost weight initially but have gained a significant portion back. Conversion to bypass or duodenal switch can restore weight loss.
🔥 Severe acid reflux after sleeve
Persistent GERD after sleeve gastrectomy is best resolved by conversion to gastric bypass (eliminates reflux).
⚠️ Surgical complications
Leaks, strictures, fistulas, marginal ulcers, or hiatal hernias from prior bariatric surgery — we repair these.
🚫 Lap band intolerance
Patients with lap band who need removal and conversion to sleeve or bypass — done in one surgery.
